Having the ceramic workshop available in university let me explore this material too, even if it is not directly related to my project, but I want to take advantage of these workshop as much that I can to let me develop skills with different material that might be helpful in future projects. I have been working with the pottery wheel and this time I turned a little goblet. I wanted to work on the stem and on its grip.
Unfortunately after I left it dry, I check it and inside it's got a crack. I asked to my classmate what I could do, if I could fix it in some way and Hsiu Chi told suggested me to glaze it twice inside to see if the second layers would have stay on the surface and close the crack.
What I learned was to be sure to let the clay getting dry in a uniform way to avoid unexpected cracks but also a possible way to solve the problem. Only testing it will reveal if it works or not.
