Cross course presentation

Writer's picture: Maria Laura BassiMaria Laura Bassi

The cross course presentation Gaven me then chance to adjust and test my new presentation , based from the one I made for the Symposium. I added the content I realized I had missed and clarify my intentions for the future.

At the end of it, I receive great feedback and comments about my work, as well as questions that helped me to explain better my practice and the messages behind my work. A student from MA Visual Arts defined the kinetic tetrahedron sculptures almost challenging the definition of themself: they seems to be non-Euclidean solids when it loose its shapes. He also suggested me to explore the shadows my sculptures make and actually was something I had tried already and I moved on but thinking again about that, I hand't explore them with my sculptures in movements. It can be a potential new project or I can add a spotlight for a future exhibition. Other definition that helped me reflecting on my project where that my work go beyond the utility, create a social relationship with the viewer and it turn itself in a living entity. An important question was done to the girl who presented in pair with me. She had been asked when she decided to stop her experiments and why, what she felt. She told it has to be choosen a moment when you feel that is important and meaningful for your practice, that bring a message for the audience and build the work on it. I agree and I admit it is not always simple, but necessary in order to create a clear aim, otherwise it is just a collection of test.
