For my tutorial with Oscar I wanted to discuss issues about the structure I wanted to develop for my project. Most of the problems I spotted are in the joints, because I need them to be steady and keep stable my structure, but I need them to allow mobility to the whole too. Quite contradictory.
So I find some examples I wanted to show him:
All respectively available at:
and the last one available on Instagram at the account "funky alchemist".
Another similar structure to the third one suggested from a classmate of mine it in the exhibition ALGO-R(H)I(Y)THMS by the artist Tomás Saraceno, available at
Oscar suggested to have a look also at an installation call Another Singularity made by Antony Gormley (2008) because has as common aspects the elasticity and use of the rope, to consider to focus on the prospective that give the impression of movement as alternative of the movement itself, as Troika studio used in some of its installation.
Then we discussed how I could make it work starting with a 2d shape such as a square, laying flat on a surface, and ending with the 3d shape of cube.
So as actions to be taken I will make a series of experiments, starting from the tensegrity cube, as I consider it an essential step to study and from develop structures for my project and for my practice too. As I take tensegrity as base for my first kinetic sculptures, I need to do the original structure, because reflection while I make is essential for me, it helps me to understand better how its joints work.
