Feedback on our event at Tate exchange

Maiko gave us a form to fill and that helped us to start reflecting on the event we did at Tate Exchange and start a discussion.

Every single aspects of the event were noticed and kept in mind for a next time everyone of us would need to take part at an exhibition like that.

Personally, this experience helped me a lot also to imagine how I should set an hypothetical show with my kinetic sculptures. Not only the artworks are important and need to be displayed, but it is also the information part to prepare the audience at what they will see and engage with. How and what include in order to not give for granted anything and give more knowledge to understand my practice and my project.

Also be able to predict and imagine what people would ask helps to prepare it in advance.

What we realized we needed to work more on were the information about what was happening in the room, such as a map about where were the stations and what happened there, information about every single items presented there, because everything was thought with a meaning and a clearer and better way to communicate the concept and what that installation was about. We see that almost everyone of us explained different aspect of the project, due to the short time or the interest of the participant. We also reflect on what we could have done different and with more significance: the sweeping are for example, could have give different shapes based on the coffee ground crumbled on the floor.

On the other hand people also enjoyed try to guess the meaning so it is important give guideline.

Maiko also informed us that the application for the biennale of Istanbul were soon be closed and because of the theme of this year, Empahy, our project revisited could fit in. It is a great opportunity to bring on our installation and participate to other exhibitions, so it would worth to apply and test and develop the skills we learnt. In fact, reflect on an issue, work with peers, design an installation and so solve its technical problems, communicate and explain it to audience are all skills that need to be developed and trained in this situation.
