Rephrasing the Power of Materials installation in order to apply to the Biennale of Istanbul was a hard and good exercise to think it in another context. We needed not only to rethink the making part because of the material available this time, but also a new way to show different aspect. In fact we did a research about how the Turkish people relate and use the coffee, here they get it from and what issues there are there.
Different country, different audience, different approach to an installation, different issues.
We needed to form a collective between us and provide our information, so define our practice too.
Another important exercise: define what I do in few words.
Maria Laura Bassi | Industrial Designer/Artist | Italy
Maria explores the relationship between movement and geometry. Her background in industrial design developed her interests in the interaction between viewers and objects through the media of kinetic sculptures. She is currently experimenting with ultrasonic sensors and varying materials to create platonic polyhedrons.
We gave us a name too: Carbon Ara. Carbon because is the element that forms life and Are because is mean altar. Also is a familiar word to all of us because it is a kind of pasta in Italy that all the group like.

The first time we do something it always the most difficult one because we do a new thing. Work together at this application was another important experience for my professional growth as I will need to do it again, but I get already some experience.
